Catching the majestic Arctic char, vairon and Fario trout at Tavaneuse lake is worth the effort; you can only reach the lake on foot, after setting out from Montriond or Abondance: From Abondance: a 2 hours hike via Serranant Alpine meadows. From Montriond: leave from Montriond Lake, follow signs for Chalets de Lens, carrying on uphill to Portes du Lens, then to Col de Tavaneuse on the right with the lake on the way down. Depth of the lake: 4.5 m. Area: 2 hectares. Fishing permits can be purchased at tourist offices.
