Hiking: the Pointe du Clocher

A walk through the forest to the Pointe du Clocher, followed by a lovely ridge walk through woodlands and small mountain pastures. Enjoy stunning views of the Chablais Mountains, from the Cornettes de Bise to Mont Ouzon.

From the Cocouey car park, the route climbs gradually through the forest towards Les Candus, then Les Mouillettes. The ascent continues to the Pointe du Clocher, before reaching an open, peaceful ridge, where the forest gives way to small alpine clearings. In summer, a few cows may be grazing there.

The descent follows the ridge initially, then returns to the forest before reaching Les Candus and the path taken on the way up. Throughout the walk, gaps in the vegetation offer beautiful panoramic views of the Chablais peaks, notably Mont Ouzon, the Cornettes de Bise, Mont Chauffé and Mont Billiat.

Please note: you must follow the yellow markings on a green background carefully, particularly in the wooded sections.

Start from the “Le Cocouey” car park.

1/ At the signpost for “Le Cocouey”, take the path branching off to the left towards Les Candus. The path climbs gently at first, then more steeply through the forest. Ignore the various paths branching off to the left and right: follow the yellow arrows on a green background carefully.

2/ At the sign for Les Candus, the woodland thins out. Follow the path on the right towards the Pointe du Clocher via Les Mouillettes.

3/ At Les Mouillettes, head uphill towards the Pointe du Clocher.

4/ At the Pointe du Clocher, continue straight on, descending along the ridge.

5/ Turn right to head down into the forest. Follow the yellow arrow on a green background. Repeat this a little further on.

6/ On the level ground, continue along the track that descends to the left.

7/ Back at Les Candus, take the track on the right to follow the same route as on the way there. Head towards Le Cocouey.
