Description

The Lac du Fouyet hike passes through a beautiful alpine pasture at the foot of the Pic de la Corne. In the summer, cows graze there, and the sound of their bells creates an authentic alpine atmosphere.

This hike takes you through a small valley dotted with several hamlets and a superb alpine pasture, following a steady climb. If you look back, you’ll enjoy a beautiful view of the Roc d’Enfer. The final section of the route, leading to Lac du Fouyet, winds through the forest.

Although it marks the end of the hike, Lac du Fouyet is not its main attraction. The final stretch, past Pré Nouveau, is therefore optional. The highlight lies in crossing the alpine pasture, where the scenery, pastures, and mountain atmosphere offer a wonderful immersion in the landscapes of Haute-Savoie.

Guided steps

Starting point: Les Onchets parking lot

1/ Head up the paved road toward La Villaz, the next hamlet.

2/ In La Villaz, continue uphill toward Lac du Fouyet (follow the sign). The paved road quickly turns into a forest trail.

3/ At Fouyet, continue straight ahead, heading uphill toward Lac du Fouyet.

4/ At Pré Nouveau, turn right onto the grassy path and follow the signs for Lac du Fouyet.

5/ A few meters further on, turn right onto the forest trail at the intersection by the small stream. You’ll cross the fence.

6/ After about a 15-minute walk through the forest, you’ll arrive at Lac du Fouyet. You can walk around the lake, but if you do, be sure to remember the path you took to get there, as there are no directional signs near the lake.

7/ Return via the same route.
